Tips on Hunting & Fishing Advice in The Outdoors Journal

The S3Outdoors Journal covers a range of topics including fishing, fly fishing, upland bird hunting, migratory bird hunting, and big game tips on hunting.  We are not professional writers.  Nor are we professional hunters or anglers.  The articles we write will about what we have learned as we continue to explore the Great Outdoors.  To comment on any of the articles written by the S3Outdoors staff, use our email.

One of my earliest memories is an ongoing argument with my brother about who caught the angel fish on our family vacation to North Carolina, some 30 years ago.  Just for the record, Calvin, it was me.  Now that that's cleared up, I'd also like to mention that I've caught the first fish, the most fish, and the biggest fish, every time.

I've fished on and off for the past 30 years, catching a few here and a few there.  While fishing has always been an enjoyable experience, only in the past several years have I had the time to really enjoy it.  And only recently have I started to learn how to fish, by reading, by experimenting, and by paying attention to conditions, tackle, and results.

A few years ago my brother-in-law introduced me to fly fishing.  His sister may never forgive him.  I'm permanently hooked.  Fly fishing is a wonderful opportunity to learn about fishing, about fish, about weather, about water, about bugs, and about yourself.  The best thing about fly fishing is that there seems to be an endless supply of things to learn.  This outdoors journal, appearing periodically on S3Outdoors.com, will document/chronicle some of our learning from the coming seasons.  So come back and check out the Outdoors Journal.

We invite you to share your own outdoors experiences with S3Outdoors.  How about a short story and picture in our Campfire section?

Enjoy the Season
