Know Your Deer Species
There are obvious differences between White-tailed
Deer and Mule Deer. Mule
Deer have a white rump patch surrounding a narrow
black-tipped tail. They have large ears and, in adult
bucks, branching or dichotomous antlers that divide
and redivide into paired beams and points. The two
species also have different ways of running, especially
when they are alarmed. The smooth-flowing gallop of
the White-tailed Deer contrasts sharply with the stifflegged,
bounding gait of
the Mule Deer. White-tailed deer may also be known as "Whitetail Deer" or "White Tail" Deer. Mule Deer are commonly called "Mulies".

Why
we started
It
all started in 1998 when two of us were out hunting prairie chickens near
Avonlea
,
SK. We chased a few flocks up and down and around the hills and then went home
to fire up the BBQ. With beer in hand, our wives and kids waiting for us
to finish cooking the meal, we discussed where else we should hunt and fish that
fall. Although we had hunted the country side in many areas of
Saskatchewan, and knew of a few Favorite Places, we thought we must be missing out.
So, we thought we would short circuit the process for other’s who wanted
access to the best hunting, fishing and camping in the world. That night,
we created PrairieOutdoors.com, a convenient way for others to learn about what
the three
Prairie Provinces
of Alberta,
Saskatchewan, and Manitoba
have to offer. Find a place to camp for a week or a weekend. Find
the outfitter for the big game hunting adventure of a lifetime. Find the
fishing lodge where the trophy’s can be found. It’s all on
PrairieOutdoors.com. We’ve enjoyed bring the best of the Prairie
Outdoors to you since 1998 and we’ll continue to do for many years to come.
Our
Business Philosophy
The
true satisfaction in life comes when you can put two parties with mutual
interest together. That is the specialty of PrairieOutdoors.com. We help
campers, hunters and anglers find the adventure they are searching for. We
help campgrounds, resorts, lodges, guides and outfitters find the customers they
are looking for. In the process, we make a little money, and have a lot of
fun. Since 1998, PrairieOutdoors.com has paid for our own hunting, fishing
and camping adventures. Purely as a business necessity, we feel the
compelling need to spend time outdoors, as partners, and as families.
PrairieOutdoors.com is our way of helping others discover the endless variety of
the best place on earth.
What
keeps us going
With
6 kids between our 2 families (from 14 years old to 5 years old), we mix
business with pleasure, any time we can find an excuse to do so. Family
camping trips usually become an excursion to waters we’ve never fished, but
always wanted to try. Our company meetings don’t happen in a boardroom,
they happen on the lake, the riverside, in the campground, in a cabin, in a
forest. We do it because it’s how we like to spend our time together.
We have a few hundred more lakes, rivers, fields, forests and campgrounds left
to go. After this weekend, there will be one fewer. See you
outdoors…..
